About Our Company
AgeWell Orthopedics is a mobile orthopedic practice specializing in the care of seniors. Our providers deliver comprehensive, non-surgical orthopedic services directly within assisted living and senior care communities - improving mobility, preventing falls, and preserving independence.
Common Conditions Treated
-
Joint pain in seniors often results from age-related cartilage wear (osteoarthritis), muscle weakness, and balance or gait imbalances that place added strain on the joints. Overuse, prior injuries, and inflammatory conditions like bursitis or tendonitis can also contribute. Together, these factors cause stiffness, swelling, and discomfort that limit mobility and reduce independence.
-
Arthritis is one of the most common causes of joint pain and stiffness among older adults — affecting over half of all seniors in the United States. It’s not just a single condition, but a group of joint disorders that cause pain, swelling, and limited mobility.
-
Good balance is essential for staying safe, mobile, and independent — yet balance problems are extremely common among older adults. As we age, changes in muscle strength, vision, and inner ear function can make it harder to stay steady, increasing the risk of falls and injuries.
Why Balance Declines with Age
Balance is controlled by a combination of systems — muscles, joints, eyes, and the inner ear — all working together. Over time, these systems can weaken or lose coordination. Common causes of balance problems in seniors include:
Muscle weakness or reduced lower-body strength
Arthritis that impacts joint function
Medication side effects
Poor posture or gait changes
Inner ear or vestibular disorders (like vertigo)
Neurologic conditions such as neuropathy and Parkinson’s disease
Even subtle changes in any of these areas can affect confidence when walking or standing, increasing the likelihood of falls.
-
Mobility limitations are among the most common and impactful health challenges faced by older adults. They affect independence and contribute to overall health decline, contributing to:
Increased fall and fracture risk
Functional dependence in activities of daily living (ADLs)
Social isolation and reduced quality of life
Deconditioning and accelerated frailty
Higher healthcare utilization and long-term care placement
-
1 in 4 adults over age 65 falls each year
36 million falls occur in the US annually (1 every second)
Falls are the #1 cause of injury and injury-related death among older adults
In 2020, over 42,000 fatal falls occurred in the U.S. — 86% occurring among adults 65+
Only ~37% of seniors who fall report it or seek treatment
Falls cost Medicare over $50 billion annually, projected to over $100 billion by 2030
Services
All services are billed directly through the resident’s health insurance.
-
Kinetisense is a 3D, AI-assisted video analysis tool that evaluates a patient’s gait, balance, and stability to generate an objective fall-risk score. It is an invaluable resource for stratifying fall risk, guiding care decisions, and tracking the effectiveness of treatment over time.
-
At AgeWell Orthopedics, we believe that fall prevention starts with proactive care. Through on-site orthopedic evaluations, strength and balance programs, 3D gait analysis, and personalized fall-risk plans, we help seniors stay mobile, confident, and independent. By combining movement, monitoring, and education, our fall reduction strategies empower seniors to live safely and thrive in their communities.
-
Joint injection therapies—such as corticosteroid, ketorolac, hyaluronic acid, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections—are highly effective in managing arthritis-related pain and inflammation in older adults. These treatments provide targeted relief by delivering medication directly into the affected joint, reducing pain, improving mobility, and often delaying or eliminating the need for surgical intervention. For seniors who may not be candidates for surgery, injections offer a safe, minimally invasive option to enhance function and quality of life.
-
Braces can help seniors stay active and independent by providing extra support where it’s needed most. Whether used for back, knee, or other joint pain, a properly fitted brace can reduce discomfort, improve balance, and make daily activities easier. Bracing is a safe, non-surgical way to relieve pain and protect joints—helping you move with more comfort and confidence.
-
Through partnerships with mobile imaging services, AgeWell Orthopedics brings advanced diagnostic technology directly to senior living communities. Patients can undergo X-rays and other imaging on-site, eliminating the need for outside appointments or transportation. All images are available to AgeWell providers during evaluations, allowing for immediate review, faster diagnosis, and more personalized care—right where seniors live.
